Pressure Cooker Beef Ribs
Learn how to make tender, juicy beef ribs in a pressure cooker!
Ingredients
- •1.5 kg beef ribs (whole rack or cut into pieces)
- •2 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- •4 garlic cloves, chopped
- •2 medium onions, chopped
- •2 tablespoons cooking oil
- •1 tablespoon annatto powder or paprika
- •Salt and black pepper to taste
- •Hot water (approximately 1 cup)
Instructions
- 1
Start by heating the oil in the pressure cooker.
- 2
Add the chopped onions and garlic and sauté until golden.
- 3
Add the chopped tomatoes and continue cooking until they begin to break down.
- 4
Add the annatto powder or paprika and mix well.
- 5
Season the beef ribs with salt and black pepper to taste.
- 6
Place the ribs in the pressure cooker and sear on all sides until browned.
- 7
Add approximately 1 cup of hot water to the cooker. The amount of water may vary depending on the size of your cooker and the quantity of ribs, but there must be enough liquid to build pressure.
- 8
Close the pressure cooker and place over high heat. Once pressure starts to build (the cooker will begin to hiss), reduce the heat to its lowest setting and cook for about 30 to 40 minutes. The cooking time may vary depending on the size and thickness of the ribs.
- 9
After cooking, turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally before opening the cooker. This may take a few minutes.
- 10
Check that the ribs are tender and cooked to your liking. If necessary, return the cooker to the heat without the lid to reduce the liquid and thicken the sauce.
- 11
Serve the pressure-cooked ribs with the sauce spooned over them, accompanied by rice, beans, and vegetables, if desired.
