Budget-Friendly Homemade Bread
Make budget-friendly homemade bread with this simple, easy recipe!
Ingredients
- •500 / 550 g wheat flour
- •100 g sugar
- •1/3 teaspoon salt
- •1 egg
- •80 g butter
- •12 g dry yeast or 40 g fresh yeast
- •200 ml lukewarm milk
- •100 g / 150 g chocolate chips
- •100 ml milk for brushing
- •Butter for brushing
Instructions
- 1
Add the lukewarm milk, sugar and yeast to a bowl (I used a stand mixer bowl).
- 2
Mix until the yeast has completely dissolved.
- 3
Next, add the salt, egg and softened butter, then gradually add the flour. Knead until the dough is very smooth and soft.
- 4
Shape into a ball, place in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
- 5
Let rise until doubled in size.
- 6
Then gently work the chocolate chips into the dough.
- 7
Shape the dough into rolls of your desired size and arrange them on a baking tray greased with butter and dusted with flour, or lined with parchment paper.
- 8
Decorate the rolls with the reserved chocolate chips!
- 9
Let rise again until doubled in size.
- 10
Once doubled in size, gently brush the tops of the rolls with milk and bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for 20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- 11
Once baked, brush the rolls with butter while they are still hot (the butter will keep their crust soft for much longer).
