Quiche
Make this delicious quiche with the recipe below.
Ingredients
- •1 sheet of puff pastry or shortcrust pastry (store-bought or homemade)
- •4 eggs
- •200g diced bacon (or another type of meat, such as ham, shredded chicken, etc.)
- •1 cup grated cheese (such as cheddar, Swiss cheese, Brazilian prato cheese, etc.)
- •1 medium onion, chopped
- •1 cup cream (or substitute whole milk)
- •Salt and pepper to taste
- •Nutmeg (optional)
- •Chopped fresh herbs (optional, such as parsley, chives, or basil)
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- 2
In a large frying pan, fry the diced bacon until golden and crisp.
- 3
If you prefer, you can use another meat of your choice. Remove the bacon from the pan and set aside.
- 4
In the same pan, sauté the chopped onion until soft and lightly golden.
- 5
Remove from the heat and set aside.
- 6
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs with the cream (or milk) until smooth.
- 7
Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste.
- 8
Add the chopped fresh herbs, if desired.
- 9
Line a quiche tin with the puff pastry or shortcrust pastry, pressing it firmly against the sides and pricking the base a few times with a fork to keep the pastry from puffing up too much during baking.
- 10
Spread the fried bacon and sautéed onion over the pastry.
- 11
Pour the egg and cream mixture over the filling in the tin.
- 12
Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top.
- 13
Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until the quiche is golden and set in the center.
- 14
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
- 15
The quiche can be served hot, warm, or at room temperature.
